The Spot: New Olathe Schools Program Highlight

The Spot is a new after school program initiative that allows youth in grades 6-12 to receive homework support, engage with mentors, and connect with other students in a fun and safe environment. This program occurs in collaboration with the Olathe Public Schools, Johnson County Department of Corrections, Olathe Public Library, Johnson County Mental Health, Olathe Fire Department and the Olathe Police Department, and it kickstarted in January for the second semester of the 2020-21 school year. Erik Erazo, a member on our CTC leadership team, quotes “The Spot will have both the social and academic component that keeps students accountable on their path to graduation. As part a countywide committee, Disproportionate Minority Contact, we seek to develop programming and strategies which lower the rate of minority representation in the juvenile justice system and this initiative provides a safe and free environment after school.”

Olathe CTC is proud to support The Spot and the incredible work it will do for the students of Olathe. To learn more about The Spot, visit the Olathe Schools Website here or the Olathe Schools Twitter page here.
